Why Does April 15th Matter?
Grad applications often receive responses around mid-April due to the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) Resolution. This resolution applies to many Ph.D. programs in the US that offer financial support in the form of scholarships, fellowships, or assistantships.
Here’s why it matters.
It ensures that students have until April 15th to decide on these offers.
While some programs may have earlier deadlines, the CGS Resolution gives students time to weigh their options.
That’s why many wait to choose the program. The extra time ensures they find one that best aligns with their academic and financial goals.
